Overview
Co-developed by the University of Michigan, Apple iServices and Global Village Consulting Inc., GVC.SiteMaker meets the combined website creation and management needs of two distinct groups within Education.
Non-technical faculty, students and staff:
There are many reasons why faculty and students would like to publish websites, ie. syllabi, research, collect and share assignments, presentations, handouts, quizzes, surveys, sending large files, student portfolios, etc. Unfortunately, many do not attempt to create a website because of the technical knowledge required to use traditional web-publishing applications, applications such as FrontPage, Dreamweaver or GoLive. GVC.SiteMaker is designed to remove the practical difficulties people face when trying to put a website into production and requires no special training or experience with HTML or web-publishing tools. Simply enter GVC.SiteMaker using a web browser and follow the simple step by step instructions to choose a unique website style, type in text and upload images for content, create navigational structure, create password protected pages and files, and of course, publish the website on the World-Wide-Web.
IT Support / Web Services:
GVC.SiteMaker's administrative features enables IT support and web services staff to greatly improve the efficiency and effectiveness of its website management and support services. While spending less time helping individual website owners with minor set-up, layout or content management issues, etc., GVC.SiteMaker facilitates improved and more powerful high-level administrative control over the whole system. GVC.SiteMaker complements and enhances the overall IT support and web services offering to educational institutions.
